Letter # 24

Liebe Familie,

wow crazy week and loads of fun and sucess. first off this week on saturday i turned 4 months old!!!! crazy right? also elder fuller on friday turned 1 year old. we made this awesome waffel, ice cream, and rasberry stuff. it was way good. i fell this week on the ice and riped a hole in the knee of a pair of my suit pants. really big so i dont know if repair is possible. oh well. all is good.

well this week was good. monday we chilled a lot and had a lot of fun just relaxing and catching up on personal things and stuff in the wohnung. tuesday was a dud day. not a whole lot and the mornign wasnt so great but then we played badminton with soph and mar. both investigators. it was way fun. as we walked home i talked to martina nd elder popp talked to soph. it was really good. talking to mar is fun. he has super long hair and is a large man. imagine a viking and that is him. no joke. we call him the viking becuase he is one lol. 

thursday was super fun!!! not fun work related but fun because that night we had planned a spiel abend ( game night) at the churhc for the young single adults and our gators. it went really well. tons of people came. we played uno and ping pong. nobody knew the other games so we only played uno lol. ping pong got intense and was loads of fun. we bought some food and drink and everyone had loads of fun. it was good. friday, was a dud of a day for work. we had 3 fall out apps that day. oh well. we had one cnacle and the others werent home so oh well. we were planning on doing other things but then decided to go home early and study and make elder fuller his ice cream awesomness. saturday was good. we had lunch with a gator. he is from italy and he made us spaghetti. was good. then we had weekly planning so we were inside a lot of saturday. sunday was the best day of the week. so awesome. we were hugnry because we were fasting again but church was really good. then after we went to the daniels home. they are both from italy and they made us this 5 course italian meal...DANG it was awesome!!!! first this noodle and egg casserole. was good. i woul dhave been happy with jus thtis, but then they bring out two kind of stuffed meat. one was beef shoulder stuffed with mushrooms, the other was a think lamb stzuffed with cheese and chili stuff. way good. then we had a salad and potatoes. then we ahd tea, tieremesue. i cant spell and its french so i have no clue. its way good. say out each letter of that and it sound like the word and the dessert lol. way good and then marzipan icecream bars. i wasnt to happy about marzipan but whatever. im in the wrong part of the world ot hate harzipan so ewhenevr it is served to me i have to grin and bear it and eat it anyway. oh well.  then we went by some contacts and it was aweosme!!!! we got two new investigators in one apointment. it was so cool. we taught them and it went really well. 

saturday night it snowed so sunday we woke up to white but then it got a little warmer and turned into rain. it rained all day!!!!! and it hovered around 1-5 ° C so it was just super cold rain and no snow. oh well.

ok well thats all for this week we need to work on some stuff on the computer so i dont have a lot fo time. love you all laods nad pictures are coming shortly.

ohhhhhh i totall forgot. this is way funny. so i told you i biffed it right? well i slid on some ice and totally biffed it on thursday. on so before that though we were walking behind this really old lady. right before we cross the street she turns and looks at us. i think " oh crap shes going to talk to us and turn out to be a crazy old catholic lady who hates mormons." but she didnt. she was super nice and asked is she could hook onto me as we crossed the srteet!!!!! LOL. and being me, a fine strong young man, i helped her cross the street. oh and being an eagle scout to it was my duty lol. she was so scarred to cross the street. she had a crazy grip on my arm. she told us she ahd already fallen 3 times today and she didnt want to fall agian. she was so nice. it was funny. im sure we made her day to see two large young men walking behind her and she gets scarred to cross a street. i felt good. but then charma comes and makes me slip...i know charma...what are you saying. i gues sin germany charma works differently and when you do good thigns for people you get the crap on you...idk. LOL. it was just ironic that i fell after i help this lady cross the street witht he ice lol.

Letter #23

family!!

well this week it much better than last. let me tell you! lol. tuesday was crazy because we had to wake up at 4 am to get on a train and go to hamburg for the 4 zone wide conference. we slept a lot on the train obviously lol. we showed up and seeing all the guys from my golden group was so much fun!! we have such a close connection and we are all such close friends because of the MTC. its crazy. everyone of us had the biggest smiles on and it was so cool. we were all there except elder brereton and as he walked in the door we mobbed him! lol. he was so happy to see us to. crazy stuff. really good training. subjects were obedience, the 8 missionary fundamentals and we are all children of god. i didnt really pay attention to pres kosak before but after his lesson, i love him so much! its funny, i thought he was a little wierd and awkward, but after that lesson, he ahs such a depe understanding of the gospel such an amazing teacher!!! its crazy how well he teaches the gospel. his lesson was so good. our lunch sucked but then we did our white elephant gift exchange thing lol. i got an earnie stuft doll. (from seasame street). i gave a buddha sculpture. LOL. i forgot to buy a gift and elder clayton had this staute about 6 inches tall of buddha that was left to him from elder james. he didnt want it to i took it and wrapped it up. lol. one of the senior missionaries got it. it was so funny. well the training lasted until 6 that night so we had to book it out of there ot get back in time to get to bed. so we had no time to eat after or have fun in hamburg, rela bummer. so no railroad dad. sorry. i wont ever have time for that until i serve in hamburg, sorry.

wednesday, umm not much. we taught this gator named frau lange. she is so cool. she is older  but she is so nice and we are teaching her 3 times a week now. hopefully as time goes on she will grow and learn the truth of the gospel but for now she is stuck in her catholic ways and tradition because her family has been catholic forever! thursday was a little boring. not a whole lot except for a meeting with an inactive stser. she just talked our ears off!! but we love her and she is awesome. friday, probablys the second best day behind tuesday. so much fun. the begging was normal but then we met with sophiano, whos story i think i explained last email because we met him sunday, but we met with him and it was such a spiritual lesson. started out as a conversation to get to know him and spread to the gospel naturally and such and then our lesson turned into how to recoginze and have the holy ghost in our lives. also about what the job of the investigator is. we as missionaries cant do it all and it really clicked for him that when we ask him to read or pray, its not just random stuff, its for him and only for him. its not repetition for us. we pray and think about him constantly and about what to teach and discuss with him. i think it clicked for him which is way cool. also on friday was our visit to the munzers house, our branch pres. his wife is from arizona and so she makes a thanksgiving dinner every year and makes it a big party for a lot of the people in the ward. we showed up and then there were 5 people from the ward plus two of the munzers friends plus their daughter(innactive, and her story is kind of sad, but oh well, maybe we will work on her. she lives on her own and got involved with the "world", so ya,) we had a lot of people and the dinner was amazing!!!! we had eggnog!!!!!! oh my gosh was it amazing lol. have not had eggnog in a while. thankfully pres munzer is has lactose issues as well so they had some lectose pills and i was able to drink the liquid gold!! lol. we drew on the table cloth (which was paper) i took pictures and will send them.

saturday was normal. we did weeklyplanning. no big deal. sunday was also normal. nothing special. we did break the fast with all the young adults in the branch. it was fun. today not much, just emails and grocery shopping so far.

well notes for the week, i got your package on the 29th, so thursday...dont worry i didnt look at the package slip, but because i didnt and didnt know if it was my christmas package or not, i opened it and saw wrapping paper. so i took the socks and put the rest under the tree. im wearing the socks right now. LOL. i took a picture. they look sweet with my dress pants and dress shoes. LOL. thans really it for notes. wow. lol. boring. but this weke was way better than last.!! this coming week should be even better. we are planning on going to the christmas market in the innenstadt this week which should be a blast. i heard other elders went to theirs already and that are all sweet. ok love you all and until next week.

Liebe Familie!

wow crazy week!! well to be honest it kind of sucked missionary work wise but good mentally i suppose LOL. we had fun this week but a lot happened. well not a lot happened and so tahts why the week sucked. we had 6 appointments fall out this week so we were really down on appointments and lessons but for other things it was fun. with the new ZL ,elder clayton, the appartment is way fun and we are a bit more obedient lol. 

ok for notes from this week. i got the package!!!! the cds are so cool. elder popp is more excited about the manheim steamroller christmas cd than i am LOL. his dad played it every christmas morning when they opened presents. your questionaire in the package was a brilliant idea, i answered them and sent it back on thursday so idk how long it takes letters to get home, but i sent it. the new pair of socks was cool. its funny i was wishing i ahd a new pair that were a bit longer and there they were. little blessing like that are just awesome.

Oh so yesterday at churhc we had branch leadership meeting. they were discussing the  christmas party and who would be santa clause. they are going to ask this one member but he has said no the first time, they will try again but they need a back up santa...so at this time im out of the room and the branch pres, pres munzer, suggests me as the santa. elder popp and fuller just bust up laughing and think its a great idea. i walk in and sit down and everyone is smiling at me. pres munzer asks if i would be the santa clause, i said yes, problem is i have absolutely no clue what santa says in german, i cant even say merry christmas in german. my vocabulary is not built for this!!!! lol. i will have a lot of studying to do. i dont even know who satan is in german. he has a different name. i get to take pics with all the primary kids and everything. lol!!! should be fun but way stressful. i dont want to emarass myself and i dont want to ruin it for the kids. they go up and have a santa who cant speak freakin german. what the heck. im excited though. elder popp and fuller think its the best idea ever. oi have been slowly...very slowly loosing weight, and so i joked i need to start gaining to fit my costume in a couple weeks. but no i wont do that. but it should be interesting. loads of pictures for that.

today we are shopping a ton and then soccer tonight with investigators. we go to this indoor soccer place with like 10 indoor soccer fields. so sweet!!!! i love it.we have 2 investogators coming, simon and his family, so technically more non members and then the elder from leer are coming and staying the night tonight so they can get to hamburg tomorrow with us at the same time. and we are closer so they dont ahve to wake up as early. 

alright spiritual thought of the week. 2 nephi 25:23-25. i reall like the last sentence of verse 23. we are saved through grace only after ALL we can do. also mosiah 4: 25 i think. dont run faster than you ahve strength but constantly sertve others. way cool.

ok out of time for now. we just got a clal that pres munzer got in a car wreck and he wants a blessing. he went to the hospital and all is ok according to the x-rays, but we shall see. aparently his car is totalled. sucks.

M&M Letter #21

dear family, 

Ok well as you can see today is saturday not monday...dont freak, im not a bad missionary, we are just out of town for p day because we are having an american thanksgiving day in another city. the senior couple there is cooking us turkey and the whole works and we are playing football...american football that is. really cool. so we wont have time for emails on monday so we do them today :)

well this week has been crazy. loads of fun and lots to do. but first notes and such,

Ok so first BIG news!!! we are getting 36 new sisters in may!!! 36!!! thats more than we have in the entire mission right now. so that means that whne they show up every sister has to train and even then there will be an imbalance of golden sisters to older sisters. do we have no clue how its going to work out. maybe it will be 2 golden sisters to one trainer...we have no clue. its scary though. that many new sisters...scary and not 21...19 years old. they are opening 18 new areas!!!! thats a ton. so we are getting atleast one new area here in oldenburg so aht means atleast a new sisters pair and possibly another or another elder pair. thats atleast 4 new misisonaries. crazy stuff. oh and for new things here in oldenburg adn not as far away as may, we will be getting asenior couple here in olenburg. yay!! im really excited for that. it will be nice to have some more non germans in church every sunday.

ok so look up "Ill make a man out of you" in german. the song from mulan...LOL its so funny. "sei ein mann" is what they say instead of be a man but just the way they say it in the song is so funny. another random thing...banana juice is the most amaying liquid on this earth!!! i buy a new bottle of it every other day. i would buy more but i dont have money, well i do but i cant waste it on bana juice. lol. ill send a pic of my favorte kind. maybe its an international brand and i cna buy it at home.

oh question. is there an airforce base american or german new oldenburg? we had fighter jets fly over wednesday and it was realy loud and really low. so idk where they were going or where they came from because i have never heard anything happen in the world that would require a random jets flying over. idk. just wondering if we have an airforce base near us.

could i possibly get nana and papas email address? i would love to email them.  ok so dad i already mention the steam loco in emden. it doesnt work but i still got a pic in front of it. i will send it with this email. so sweet. as soon as i saw it i was like ok i need to get a pic in front of it so we did. i also will send of pic of me next to the sailor guy. idk but i wanted a pic with him so i did. kind of funny.

ok so for this week. tuesday...not much, we just found a lot and walked around and went to the munzers house to use their computer for photos and stuff because elder james leaves soon. and badminton was such a blast. i wasnt sick this time so it was so fun. i was sweating to bad because of how hard it was because we were playing against an investigator "martin" who is a badminton pro. he is crazy. wednesday not much. we went on exchange witht he zone leaders which is nothing special because we live together, but it was still good. we went bye this one jewish lady who was really nice. she was really cool and we gave her a book of mormon. she said that she coudknt read it in the first week or even possibly the 2nd but she said she would have it finished in 3 weeks. lol. we were so excitied because even some members cant read it in less than 6 months! lol. needless to say we were stoked for her. that night elder popp made hot chocolate. it was sooo good. it was made from milk, chocolate, and sugar. yes the milk screwed me up that night adn the next day but i didnt care. i wanted deliciousness. i was willing to suffer :) lol. thursday we woke up with ice all over the car, grass and everywhere. it was way cool there were icicles to. no snow yet though. that day we chummed. we had no meetings or apps so we ahd to find to fill the day. we stamped about 2000 cards and went door to door just dropping a card in each mailbox. thats why its called chumming, no real contact but we potentially contact a maximum number of people. it was fun actually and we did talk to a few people asking who we were and waht we were doing. lots of fun. that night we had fog. not just normal fog but really thick fog. it was really creapy. as the sun was going down it got really really cold. like we could feel the temperature change it was so cold. just out of no where and on the horizon we could see clouds coming our way in the sunset. so we were excited because we thought it would be snow. nope. 30 minutes later fog roles in. then it get thicker and thicker and thicker. really creepy. we walked around a little in it and i was soaked when we got back to the appartment from walking in it. crazy stuff. 

then today just the transfer call. its a mass conference call with about 110 phone in all becaus every companionship has a phone and we clal call in at once to listen. next transfer they are changing it though and only calling the elders who are getting moved so as to not waste the time of other elders and so to have less drama with everyone knowing who is companions with who and all that stuff. nothing changed except for elder fuller, the elder i live with who is a ZL is getting elder clayton as a new ZL and companion. everyone says he is way cool. lots of fun and a really good missionary. im excited to meet him.

alright well i think thats all for now. no snow yet although its really cold and definetly cold enough for it. i will tell you guys next week how monday goes with thanksgiving. and football. and the new elder in our appartment.

no package yet from dad or from anyone. i think dad sent it 8 days ago? or was it 15 days ago? sorry i cant remember. but no package. hopefully this next week. if it was 8 days ago then tuesday it should come. thats how fast the other got here.

M&M Letter #20

dear family,

 Ok so report on the week. well not to much. week was boring a little. highlights though were this new gator . she has searched every religion and has read every bible, every book of any kind about all religions. she felt alone and started to pray for help and comfort. when she ended her prayer we called...woah! crazy right? well she is way interested and actually she met with the elders like 6 months ago but they dropped her for some reason. well when we talked to her she said she read the BoM like twice and she said she knows its true but she doesnt get the point that there is only one true church. she believes that as long as you believe in christ all is good. so our lesson on the restoration and the apostasy needs to really hit home for her or there is no go. but the miracle with her other then when we called was that we invited her to church. she said she doesnt like church because of how other churches have treated her. she has not been to ANY church in two and a half years!! we invited her and she said it probably wont happen. she has worries and fears of being outside and fears that people will attack her. she isnt crazy or handicapped i think its jsut a social anxiety thing for her. so we go to church, she isnt there. but then half way through sacrament she shows. we were so excited!!! we talk to her and she is really happy she is there. we teach her in our class we teach each week and it went really well. some members really made he feel welcome and she said she enjoyed relief society.

our monday to bremenw as cool. we had fun in the inerstadt and looking at the old churches and stuff. this one church had an organ half way up the wall like 2o feet in the air!!! you access it from behind and another staircase. its so cool!!! i think i have a pic of it. then ther eis the main organ in the hall next ot it which is really big. cool church. went shopping and as we were on the bus to get there we met a member. all we remember was sitting there and this younger women gets on and just stares at elder fuller who is sitting down. im standing and think to myself " get up elder fuller!!! give her your seat!!!" shes still starring and out of no where in english she asks "where are you elders from?" ottally took us off guard. she is from utah and she married a german. she has been in bremen for 3 years i think she said. she was confused because she said she knows all the elders in bremen very well and then she saw us and was just confused. it was really cool. good stuff.  res tof the week not much. 

i think i got moms package on tuesday...or was that the week before, i cant remember. 

well requests and notes form the weeek, please sen dme pics of family or cool events at home. email them to me, i can put them on my camera or flash drive and go to a store called rossmans and print them out really super cheap. its really cool to because i show them ot members at eating apps and other people. its a good way to get a conversation started. i always carry my photo album with me just in case and some cool pictures of home or family would be cool.

please send me a pic of my car and an update of how driving him went. i miss driving in america very much and especially my car. i driv ehere like once or twice a week when its required of me and it sucks!!! everything is so small and pedestrians EVERYWHERE!!!! its insane!!! 

um we set up our churstmas tree. its 90 cm tall. prelit. way cool. we put more lights on it. ill send a pic of that. 

63 days left. no im not counting down, they calculated everyone in the appartment because elder james goes home in 9 days. so i have 634. lol. not to many really when you look at how many i have already been out. 

oh have you emailed sister dunn? i put her card in a package i sent a long time ago. i came across her name i remembered she wanted our families to write her and send info on how we are doing. so maybe email her.

why to packages you send me have a list of everything inside on the outside? is that just an international thing? it sucks because it ruins of the fun of opeing the package. oh well.

ok thats really all for this week. not to exciting of an email but i emailed 3 of you individually so i guess together its all good.

Letter #19

hey family. not much time. om lets see. exciting things that come to mind right now since i have ten minutes. we were at the church as as we pulled up a member came to the window and was freaking out. we stopped and she started yelling in german i couldnt understand but she was gasping for breath and crying. so we hurry and park and unlock the church. she tells us the ambulance is coming. im like what for? and she explains a little but that vocab is way out my league so i just stand there. elder james asks if anyone has poil. i do so i give him my oil so he and elder fuller give a blessing he tells me to go outside and wait for the ambulance and flag it down. i do. btw its raining crazy hard this day and as im outside. the ambulance comes and i dflag it down. they pout her in and wait for a while trying to figure it out. finally they figure it out and tell uis where they will take her and they rush her off. scarry right? she is fine. she called us later that day telling us. she had a bad reaction to her meds and stopped breathing and crazy other stuff. this was thursday. crazy.

 ok well as for the rest of the week we have 2 new gators!! finally. we have taught a couple people and such but not our own gators we found and we started. not just crappy ones passed down from the zone leaders.so thats exciting. um wednesday ngiht we ate at one family aand they were so funny. thursday night after the crazyness we ate at the presidents house. we helped him move almost his whole house!!! lol. he asked for help and he wanted to move some desks around and some other stuff. actually it was a lot more but it was good to get to work and do stuff. i am now presidents new favorite guy. idk why but i am lol. he seems to just pick me for everything. tomorrow he picked me to be another priesthood holder to go visit a sister. so elder popp and i will be seperated :( and i will miss an eating app :( im not happy but he chose me lol. elder popp makes fun of me for it haha. other than that nothign exciting. just rain and cold everyday here. getting colder. um simon got baptised last week adn then yesterday he got confirmed, holy ghost, and prisethood all in one day!!! way crazy and way fun for him. we met his mom she is the coolest lady ever. his family has 10 kids. the mom is indian and the dad german. simon is 26 and like 4th i think. she wrote a book actually called "sari and sauerkraut" by catherine kaiser. look it up. its a autobibliography i think for the most part but with messages about how to raise a family and how the lord has blessed her and has been an influence in her life. no she isnt mormon. but she acts like one lol. the book is in english and german on amazon. i think its an e book even. anyway. ok out of time i think. um right now im off to bremen to buy some clothes because i need some normal shoes, other than running and church shoes. i need some normal t shirts that are cool. maybe. mostly though today im looking for shoes, gloves, and anything that pops out. the reason we are going to bremen for this is because there is a store that sells clothes suuuuuper cheap. so thats why im even looking to buy stuff. like shoes are 5 euro i think. and other thigns are 10 or less euro. super cheap. ok well thats all. oh wait. german tapioca...is really wierd. doenst taste like american tapioca and has a different consistency lol. ok now im done haha. love you guys loads. going to send some pics and i will sned some next week of bremen and al we do today. oh, so no package yet but hopefully this wek it will come. i cant wait for my scarf. lol love you loads.

Letter #18

Dear family,

 Alright, well this past week to be honest i cant remember much haha. thats why i write important things down during the week lol. well monday we finished emails and went to the church and then i got on emails and again  and chatted with dad. that was way cool. it made me happy. not much else that day. we went out that night adn played soccer with one of our gators. his name is simon. i think i mentioned him before. he is way far and actually got baptized yesterday. but on monday we went to this inside soccer arena. it had like 6 or 7 soccer fields inside and you rent the field and so the mor epeople who come the cheaper and obviously more fun. there were 10 of us i think. it was simons family plus us 4 elders and 2 other random guys. it was way fun. it was on turf and i slid and i paid the price for that. i knew turf hurts and kills you when you slide from baseball but i did it anyway. so now my knee has a huge scab on it lol. it was way fun. good workout and such. we even talked to one of the random guys who asked who we were and we explained and so next time we go and play (every other week) we will give him a spanish BoM. did i mention last week that germany is like the most insane place for immigrants?!? we meet more non germans than germans here. its crazy. thats why they have a wall of everx language BoM in the mission field office. its because they need them!!

 Wednesday, well every wednesday is district meeting. always fun to see the other elders and the sisters we have in our district. other than that not much. oh we played this finding game. it was our own version of amaying race, elder/finding style. haha. so if you completed a task you got points. it was usually like if you make out and app or talk to 20 people or teach a street lesson. stuff like that. so we played and it was for an hour. we thought we won but at the end thex asked us how we got such high point and we explained and thex chopped up our points because we were double counting. it wasnt our fault either because every companionship hasd high points and then got lowered becasue they didnt explain the rules correctly. we tied for second place. the sisters came in first.

thursday, not much. we chilled at the church almost all day because elder popp had to make a pamphlet for simons baptism from scratch with a crappy program on the churches computer so it took a while. friday, again not much. the zone leaders were gone so we were able to ahve the car. i ahd to watch a driver safety video that was actually not that bad. it was good. kind of funny. we drove around and had a couple meetings but really normal day.

saturday, not much. just weekly planning and again normal day. sunday we had normal church plus our extra hour becasue of day light savings. that extra hour of sleep was cool. church was good. we then had simons baptism which went really well. we ate together afterward. it was a good day. 

thats really it. a bit shorter email but with things calming down and such i guess its normal. i still need to write pres my email. 

um for other radom stuff this week,  I miss my car!!! send me some pictures. it would just be nice to have some to show. also drive him around a bit and then after check the oil level, and coolant level. check oil when its warm. oviuosly the coolant after its cooled down. down want someone to get burned.

is julie driving yet? and if not why not!?!

im a little sick. i dont know what it is. it started saturday with a headache and congestion and just feeling like crap. now its waking up to really sore and dry throat. major congestion at night and such. coughing. ya. not good. i take a suaphed in the morning for the day. i dont take one at night because its the 12 hour stuff and it messes with my sleep. i need to get PE stuff maybe. i have cold eze, but idk if its doing anything or if this is a cold. im not sure what it is. during the day i feel fine and then at night and morning it sucks. today actually it still sucks and usually by now im fine. so maybe its getting  worse. maybe not. idk. 

its starting to get way cold here. last few nights at around 7 or 8 its been at 2-5 degrees C. and most morning we wake up to frozen leaves.
